How to Block Porn on iPhone

Why app-only blockers fall short

Most parental control apps work by running as a background process that watches what other apps do. The problem: any app can be uninstalled, and a factory reset wipes it entirely. If the blocking lives entirely inside an app on the device, a determined kid eventually finds the "off" switch.

Turn on category filtering in NoorI

Once your iPhone is enrolled in NoorI, go to Content Policy and enable the Adult Themes category (along with related categories like Nudity, if shown separately). This blocks the request at the DNS level — before your device even connects to the site — regardless of which app or browser is being used. It is not limited to Safari.

Layer it with Screen Time

NoorI handles the network layer; iOS's built-in Screen Time restrictions add a second, independent layer that doesn't rely on network filtering at all:

1. Go to Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions.
2. Under Content Restrictions → Web Content, choose Limit Adult Websites.
3. Set a Screen Time passcode that is different from the device passcode, so it can't be casually guessed.

Two independent layers mean a gap in one (a new site NoorI's categories haven't caught yet, for example) doesn't mean total exposure.

Lock the setup itself

In your NoorI dashboard, set a profile PIN under Settings so the rules themselves can't be edited from the device without it. NoorI also automatically pushes a rule that blocks changing the device's DNS settings to route around the filter — see our guide on how NoorI prevents bypass attempts for the technical detail.

Verify it

Try visiting a known adult site from the device — you should see NoorI's block page, not the site. If you see a generic Safari error instead, double-check the certificate install step in the iPhone setup guide.
