How to Set Up NoorI on Android

Enroll an Android phone or tablet in NoorI, and avoid the one Android-specific setting that quietly turns filtering off.

What you'll need

A NoorI account and an Android device running Android 8.0 or later. As with every platform, you never need your own Cloudflare account — NoorI provisions everything for you when you connect.

Step 1: Connect your NoorI account

From Settings → Cloudflare in your NoorI dashboard, click Connect. Your dashboard will then show a Zero Trust team name with a copy button — you'll need it in the next step.

Step 2: Install Cloudflare One

Search "Cloudflare One" on the Play Store, or use the direct link in Devices → Add device on your NoorI dashboard.

Step 3: Enroll your device

Open the app, paste your team name when asked for an organization name, sign in with the same email you used on NoorI, and enter the emailed one-time code. Android will prompt you to approve a VPN connection request — allow it, this is what carries your DNS queries through your filter.

Step 4: Turn off battery optimization for the app

This is the step that trips up most Android setups. By default, Android aggressively kills background apps to save power — including the Cloudflare One connection, which silently disables filtering until the app is reopened.

  1. Go to Settings → Apps → Cloudflare One → Battery.
  2. Set it to Unrestricted (wording varies slightly by manufacturer — Samsung calls this "Allow background activity").

Skip this and you may see filtering "randomly" stop working after the screen has been off for a while — it is not random, it is the battery optimizer.

Step 5: Verify it worked

Open a browser and visit cloudflare.com/cdn-cgi/trace. You should see warp=on and gateway=on. If either shows off, reopen Cloudflare One and toggle the connection.

Samsung, Xiaomi, or Huawei devices

These manufacturers add their own battery managers on top of Android's. If filtering still drops after disabling standard battery optimization, also check for a separate "Sleeping apps" or "Protected apps" list and add Cloudflare One there too.
