How to Block NSFW Discord Servers (An Honest Guide)
You can't block individual Discord servers at the network level. Here are Discord's sensitive media settings, and when blocking Discord entirely is right.

What a network filter can and can't do with Discord
Every Discord server, from your gaming group to the worst NSFW community, is reached through the same domains: discord.com, discordapp.com, discordapp.net, discordcdn.com and discord.gg. Inside those connections, everything is encrypted. A DNS filter, NoorI included, sees only "this device is talking to Discord". It can't see which server, channel or DM.
So the honest answer is this: NoorI can block Discord completely, or at certain times, but it can't block individual servers. Anyone who promises per-server blocking at the network level is overselling. What you can do is combine Discord's own content settings with a decision about how much Discord you really need.
Step 1: Lock down Discord's own settings
- Open User Settings → Content & Social (called Privacy & Safety in older versions).
- Under Sensitive media, set Friend DMs, Other DMs and Servers to Block, or at least Blur.
- Turn off Allow access to age-restricted servers on iOS if it appears. This setting is off by default, and it's what lets NSFW servers show up in the iPhone app.
- Turn off direct messages from server members for servers where strangers message you, and leave the NSFW servers themselves.
Discord has announced wider age-assurance changes that blur sensitive content by default and require age verification to unblur it. The global rollout was pushed back to the second half of 2026, so check what your account shows. For an adult who has already verified, none of this stops you switching sensitive content back on.
Step 2: Block where NSFW servers link out to
A lot of NSFW Discord activity is links: to porn sites, leak sites and image hosts. NoorI's Basic preset, available on the Free plan, blocks adult categories on every enrolled device, so those links lead to a block page even when the server itself stays reachable. On their own, these settings don't stop explicit images uploaded straight to Discord. That's what the sensitive-media setting in Step 1 is for.
Step 3: When blocking Discord entirely is the right call
If you keep rejoining NSFW servers, or using DMs to find them, settings inside the app won't be enough. Ask yourself honestly whether you need Discord at all. If the only important servers are a few friends or a work community, you can move those conversations elsewhere, or allow Discord only at certain times:
- Enroll your devices with Cloudflare One (quick start).
- In Content Policy, create a rule and add Discord from the Apps tab.
- Optionally add a schedule, for example allowing Discord only on Friday and Saturday evenings for gaming with friends.
App blocking and scheduling need Pro ($9.99/month, 7-day free trial). Blocking Discord also breaks Discord invite links, embeds and "Log in with Discord" on other sites.
Make it stick: Guardian Mode
Guardian Mode (Pro) adds a second person to the loop. You invite someone you trust, such as a partner, friend, sponsor or accountability buddy, from Settings → Guardian Mode. Once they accept and you switch it on, these changes need their approval: editing or deleting a rule, pausing protection, unlocking your profile, and disconnecting NoorI. Adding a new block never needs approval, because it only makes you safer.
When you ask to unlock, your guardian gets an email. Even if they approve, nothing opens right away. There is a mandatory delay of at least 4 hours (24 hours by default), then a 30-minute window to make changes, then everything locks again by itself. A request your guardian never answers expires after 48 hours. A guardian also can't be removed for the first 2 days after they accept, so you can't invite a second email address you own and quietly delete it.
Guardian Mode is especially useful with a scheduled Discord rule. Gaming nights tend to stretch, and any change to the window has to go through your guardian.
Worried about NSFW Discord servers for a child?
For under-18s, Discord's Family Center lets parents see which servers a teen joins, and Discord's teen defaults keep sensitive media filtered. Pair that with a NoorI schedule on Discord.
Blocking this for a child instead? The same steps work, but a managed child profile with its own rules is a better fit than sharing your account. See setting different rules for different children.
Frequently asked questions
Can I block one specific Discord server?
Not with a DNS or network filter. All servers share the same Discord domains, and traffic is encrypted. Leave and report the server, block its members, and use Discord's sensitive-media settings, or block Discord entirely.
Does blocking discord.gg stop people joining new servers?
Only partly. Invite links also work through discord.com, so blocking discord.gg alone is easy to get around. NoorI's Discord entry blocks all of Discord's domains together.
Will Discord's sensitive media filter catch everything?
No. It relies on automatic detection, and anyone verified as an adult can switch it off. It's a useful layer, not a guarantee.
