How to Enable Supervised Mode on iPhone or iPad
What iPhone supervision does, how to enable it safely, and how it can strengthen device restrictions alongside NoorI.

What supervised mode adds
Supervision is an Apple device-management state for iPhone and iPad. It enables additional controls that are unavailable on a standard personal device, including stronger limits on account, network, app, and profile changes. It can be useful for a family-managed device or for an adult who wants firmer restrictions on their own phone.
Supervision is separate from NoorI enrollment. NoorI filters network traffic on connected devices; supervision provides additional iOS controls that can help prevent some device-side changes. You can use NoorI without supervising your iPhone.
Before you start
- Use a Mac or Windows computer and a cable that connects your iPhone or iPad.
- Back up the device first. Some supervision methods erase the device, so check the exact method and current Apple guidance before continuing.
- Have your Apple Account credentials and device passcode available.
- Allow enough time to finish setup and verify your data and settings afterward.
The referenced Tech Lockdown guide describes its own Supervised Mode Setup tool and says its workflow keeps data. That is a third-party tool and process; review its current instructions and requirements before using it. NoorI does not provide or endorse that setup utility.
Enable supervision with a computer
The linked Tech Lockdown workflow uses its own setup utility. Its high-level sequence is:
- Create an account with the tool provider and choose the iPhone setup flow, including for an iPad if its instructions specify that.
- Download and open the version of the utility for your computer.
- Connect the unlocked device with a charging cable and accept the trust prompt if it appears.
- Follow the utility’s prompts. That workflow asks you to temporarily turn off Find My iPhone before it applies supervision; turn it back on after setup completes.
- Accept any on-device upgrade or confirmation prompts, then check Settings for the supervision notice.
Tool screens and requirements can change. Use the provider’s current step-by-step instructions while doing this. The source says its own utility preserves data; back up first and verify that claim against the version you use.
Use supervision with NoorI
Once the device is ready, enroll it in NoorI using the iPhone setup guide. NoorI filtering works independently of supervision. Supervision can add controls that help keep the filtering setup in place, depending on the configuration you apply.
For a managed configuration, review restrictions around changing DNS or VPN settings, installing or removing apps, and removing configuration profiles. Apply only the restrictions you understand and need; some settings can limit normal device use. Then test the device’s NoorI connection and confirm the intended restrictions in iOS Settings.
Troubleshooting and FAQs
Does NoorI require supervised mode? No. Follow the regular NoorI iPhone setup to filter traffic without supervision.
Will supervision remove my data? It depends on the preparation method. Do not assume data will be preserved: make a backup and check the chosen tool’s current instructions.
Can I remove supervision later? This depends on how the device was supervised and who manages it. Check the method’s documentation before setup, especially if you are configuring a device managed by a school or organization.
